Project Description
The 5,400-sq. ft. depot includes ticket office, exterior and interior waiting areas, bathroom facilities, café with full service kitchen, a basement and clock tower. The depot’s clock tower rises 50 feet high and consists of reinforced cast in place concrete with brick and stone veneer. Due to the exposed timber structure, special attention was paid to connection details and coordination with electrical, mechanical HVAC and fire protection systems. The mechanical HVAC system is using geothermal heating and cooling. KMI, as a member of a team commissioned by the Village of Tinley Park to design the new passenger station, performed structural, mechanical HVAC, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering design for the station and parking lot.
