Project Description
A multi-disciplinary design team was engaged by the Chicago Transit Authority for the signal modernization project of the Red Purple Line. KMI, as a member of the team, provided Architectural and Engineering Design services for the signal system facilities. The scope of work included survey of infrastructure for existing signal system facilities, identification of potential locations for new facilities and Architectural, MEP, and Structural Engineering Design of new facilities located between Montrose Ave. and Loyola Ave.
Due to limited right of way and available real state along the corridor, KMI studied multiple concepts to meet the facility requirements. Alternative relay house designs, structural support and MEP systems were considered.
